The Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Organisational Psychology provides an advanced, practice-oriented grounding in how psychological science can be applied to contemporary business challenges. The programme brings together core areas of work and organisational psychology, including motivation and job design, leadership and talent development, strategic selection and people analytics, consumer and social psychology, and psychological health in global workplaces.

Across the units, learners engage with theory, empirical evidence, and real organisational cases to understand behaviour at individual, team, and organisational levels. They critically evaluate how organisations attract, select, develop, and retain people; how they influence consumers and other stakeholders; and how structures, cultures, and working arrangements affect wellbeing and sustainable performance.

Accredited by Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

LIBT Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which means you can apply for Chartered Manager through Fast-track status on completion of your studies. The students will also receive a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practise.

Course Content

PSY71001 - Foundations of Business and Organisational Psychology (20 credits)

This unit introduces core theories and concepts in business and organisational psychology, including work motivation, job design, attitudes, perception, group processes, and organisational systems. Learners develop a conceptual toolkit for analysing behaviour at individual, team, and organisational levels, and for understanding how psychological factors contribute to performance, engagement, and organisational effectiveness.

PSY71002 - Strategic Selection, Decision Science and People Analytics (20 credits)

This unit examines how organisations use psychological assessment and data to make high-stakes people decisions. It covers the design and validation of selection and promotion systems, the impact of cognitive biases on managerial judgment, and the use of people analytics to link workforce characteristics to business outcomes such as productivity, risk, and turnover. Learners evaluate tools including psychometric tests, predictive models, and AI-enabled systems, and develop evidence-based frameworks for fair, transparent, and strategically aligned HR decisions.

PSY71003 - Leadership, Talent and Organisational Development in Global Businesses (20 credits)

This unit focuses on leadership and talent development as mechanisms for building organisational capability and competitive advantage. It integrates theories of motivation, personality, and leadership with organisational development practice, including succession planning, high-potential programmes, coaching, and mentoring. Particular attention is given to leading across cultures, managing global and virtual teams, and using psychological insights to shape culture, innovation, and change-readiness in complex business environments.

PSY71004 - Consumer and Social Psychology in Organisations (20 credits)

This unit explores how social and consumer psychology explain behaviour in and around organisations. Topics include social perception, identity, and influence; consumer decision-making and brand relationships; persuasion and communication in marketing and stakeholder management; and the role of culture and diversity in shaping consumer and employee responses. Learners apply psychological theories to understand how organisations design messages, products, and experiences to influence clients, customers, and other stakeholders.

PSY71005 - Psychological Health and Sustainable Performance in Global Organisations (20 credits)

This unit examines psychological wellbeing, stress, and resilience in contemporary organisations operating across borders and time zones. Using models from occupational health psychology and positive psychology, learners analyse how workload, leadership, culture, digital technologies, and flexible work arrangements affect health, safety, and sustainable performance. The unit emphasises designing multi-level interventions, policies, and management practices that support wellbeing, inclusion, and ethical people management in global and technology-mediated workplaces.

PSY71006 - Applied Research Methods and Evidence-Based Practice in Organisational Psychology (20 credits)

This unit develops advanced research skills for studying and improving work settings. Learners design qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies; conduct structured literature reviews; and evaluate the quality of research evidence. They learn how to translate findings into actionable recommendations and to plan and evaluate interventions in areas such as selection, leadership, wellbeing, and organisational change, in line with professional and ethical standards in business and organisational psychology.

Assessments

Assessment within the DBA programme is fully coursework-based and designed to support professional doctoral candidates in developing independent, critical research relevant to business and leadership contexts. In Critical Thinking in Doctoral Research, students are assessed through structured article critiques and book reviews, applying critical thinking and research evaluation techniques. The emphasis is on evaluating study design, methodology, and research findings, with activities encouraging reflection, synthesis, and analytical writing.

In Dissertation 1, assessment focuses on the formulation and defence of a research proposal. Students are guided through identifying a research problem, reviewing literature, defining methodology, and producing a fully developed dissertation proposal, which is presented for formal evaluation.

In Dissertation 2, students move into the final stages of the doctoral thesis, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, data collection, analysis, manuscript writing, and an oral defence. Assessment culminates in the submission of a completed dissertation and a successful viva voce examination. Across modules, grading prioritises clarity, academic integrity, adherence to APA formatting, and the demonstration of advanced critical, analytical, and writing skills.
