Kingston, Jamaica – 29th August 2024 — The London Institute of Business and Technology (LIBT) hosted a successful meet and greet event for its students in Jamaica at the prestigious Pegasus Hotel in Kingston. The event, held on 29th August at 6:30 pm, was attended by over 100 students and several distinguished guests, including LIBT President, Prof. Dr John White, and prominent figures from both local and international communities.

Event Highlights

The meet and greet provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage with leading academics, professionals, and public figures. Notable attendees included Prof. Jason Blazakis, a former State Department Director and renowned expert in counter-terrorism and intelligence; the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica's Minister of Tourism; Dr Angela Rosemarie Brown-Burke, Member and the Parliament; and Hon. Robert Montague, Member of the Parliament.

The event served as a platform for meaningful discussions on various topics, including the importance of education in fostering leadership and community development.

Awards Ceremony

Distinguished Achievement Awards

Nicola McNeish and Jason Chambers were recognised for their excellence in the postgraduate-level course, "Advanced Intelligence Gathering and Analysis." Their achievements highlight the rigorous academic standards upheld by LIBT.

Recognition of Thought Leadership

Honourable Edmund Bartlett received the "Recognition of Thought Leadership" award for his inspiring work and vision in the fields of tourism, resilience, and sustainability. His contributions are encapsulated in his book, Thought Leadership on Tourism, Resilience, and Sustainability in the 21st Century, which has been highly commended by LIBT.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr Angela Brown-Burke, Member of Parliament was honoured with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for her tireless commitment to education and her lasting impact on the educational landscape of Jamaica.

Commendation for Outstanding Leadership

Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Stuwart was commended for his dedication to improving the police force through strategic educational and training efforts.

MR. Robert Montague, Member of Parliament and Dwight Anthony Sibblies were recognised for their remarkable contributions to community education and lifelong learning, underscoring their dedication to empowering local communities.

Distinguished Service in Education Awards

Ottis Brown, Marion Brown and Austin Wright were each honoured for their exceptional contributions to the field of education and their efforts in inspiring future generations.
